B. PHARM
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) is an undergraduate degree course in the field of Pharmacy. The B.Pharm is one of the popular job oriented courses among the science students after class 12th. In this course the students study drugs and medicines, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Medicinal Chemistry etc. This course provides a large no. of job opportunities in both the public and private sector. Various options open once students have completed the B Pharmacy course such as that of Pharmacist, Drug Inspector, Drug Counsellor, Pharmaceutical Scientist, Quality Control Associate, Clinical Research Associate and Medical writer. The pharmaceutical industry is an ever-growing industry, in which there is always scope of growth and development. Hence, there is an assurance that no matter what the situation of the economy is, this is one field that will always boom. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is the regulatory body for pharmacy education and practice.
B Pharmacy Eligibility Criteria
Many colleges set their own eligibility criteria for B Pharmacy. Listed below are the eligibility criteria followed by most B pharmacy colleges in India:
- The minimum eligibility criteria that almost all the colleges ask for is that the candidates applying for B Pharmacy need to pass 10+2 with minimum 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Maths from CBSE or equivalent board.
- Some colleges also accept students who have studied biotechnology or life sciences instead of biology or maths in 10+2.
- There are several colleges that take marks in English in consideration as well such as BITS Pilani, JSS College of Pharmacy and Amity University.
- National level and state level entrance examinations are also conducted to check students' aptitude and ability.
- However, the admission criteria vary from college to college. Some take admission entirely based on merit whereas others take students based on entrance score and marks obtained in their 10+2.
D. PHARM
A diploma in pharmacy is a two years academic course for students who want to pursue their career in the field of pharmacy. Diploma in Pharmacy is a short-range course for aspirants who want to start their career in the field of pharmacy. Instead of doing long term courses in pharmacy domain, D. Pharmacy course is the ideal choice for the student who wants a quick start in their pharmacy career. Pursuing D. Pharm can be a good beginning to understand the fundamentals of pharmacy programmes. Anyone can do pharmacy but he or she must be passed intermediate from science stream. Candidates with research and analytical skills can also do D pharma courses. The diploma contains the core and elective subjects to provide in-depth information about the pharmacy-oriented two-year program. D.Pharma’s core subjects include pharmaceutics, pharmacognosy, biochemistry, clinical pathology, biochemistry, etc. The elective subjects list includes human anatomy, physiology, health education, community pharmacy, drug store business management, hospital clinical pharmacy, and more. The course structure of D.Pharma is designed with four semesters, core subjects, practical labs, and thesis submission.
D Pharma Eligibility Criteria
Every candidate who desires to study the D Pharma course and applies for admission must compare his/herself as per the criteria given below:
- The applicant should have finished school from a recognized board with a 12th class diploma or nearly equal.
- Candidates should have completed Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics as the subjects of major concern.
- The minimum aggregate percentage of students when they qualify for the 10+2 examination must be not less than 50 per cent.
- All the candidates who will belong to the differently disabled or non-creamy layer (such as the students of the SC/ST category) will benefit from getting a 10% relaxation in the marks criteria.
